Annunciate le nomination ai British Academy Film Awards, i massimi premi del cinema britannico meglio noti come BAFTA. I film più nominati sono Nomadland e Rocks con 7 nomination a testa, mentre The Father, Mank, Minari e Promising Young Woman rastrellano 6 candidature ciascuno.

Sono quattro su sei le donne candidate nelle categoria miglior regista, tra le quali Chloé Zhao, già vittoriosa ai Golden Globes e assoluta favorita di questa stagione dei premi (la prima dopo la pandemia): si tratta, oltre a lei, di Shannon Murphy (Babyteeth), Jasmila Žbanić (Quo Vadis, Aida?) e Sarah Gavron (Rocks). Tra i film The Dig e The Mauritanian hanno conquistato cinque nomination.

Ad assegnare i riconoscimenti sono i 6700 membri della British Academy of Film and Television Awards. I vincitori saranno annunciati l’11 aprile nel corso di una cerimonia che non contemplerà la presenza del pubblico (l’evento virtuale avrà luogo alla Royal Albert Hall), mentre di seguito trovate l’elenco completo delle candidature annunciate oggi dalla comica Aisling Bea e dall’attrice Susan Wokoma.
